Both parents died shortly after each other, leaving behind Bumali, who was just 2 years old at the time. His 83-year-old grand\u00admother took her grandson in, but because of her old age she was unable to care for him prop\u00aderly. When the little boy also showed serious symp\u00adtoms of illness, his grand\u00admother sought help from HOREMI. Bumali\u2019s disease turned out to be an unfor\u00adtu\u00adnately severe form of leprosy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/horemi.org\/de\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/08\/PHOTO-2022-04-22-17-02-28-edited.jpg\" alt class=\"wp-image-4511\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His life could be saved, but he has been suffering from severe and incur\u00adable conse\u00adquences of the leprosy infec\u00adtion ever since. Due to atro\u00adphied muscles and paral\u00adysis, Bumali cannot walk inde\u00adpen\u00addently. Like a baby, he there\u00adfore had to be carried through life on the backs of helpers for several years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/horemi.org\/de\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2023\/08\/VIDEO-2022-04-24-16-09-18.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">First, still some\u00adwhat restrained test drive with the new wheel\u00adchair. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was only through inter\u00adna\u00adtional dona\u00adtions that HOREMI was able to procure a used wheel\u00adchair for Bumali.
