Finally HOREMI can enjoy its own water supply! With finan\u00adcial support from the Friends of HOREMI and a local Turkish aid orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion, a well was drilled, a stable pumping station built and a simple mechan\u00adical pump installed. A total of eleven workers were busy for several weeks, including repairing the drilling machine \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workers had to drill around 17 meters (57 feet) deep before they hit the water.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Washing, cleaning, cooking, drinking: until now, the water to supply the orphanage and the elemen\u00adtary school, which opened at the begin\u00adning of 2024, had to be labo\u00adri\u00adously brought in using jerry cans. This extremely stren\u00aduous and time-consuming lugging is now a thing of the past. In the middle of the court\u00adyard and there\u00adfore easily acces\u00adsible for everyone, a mechan\u00adical hand pump delivers drinking water in suffi\u00adcient quan\u00adtity and good quality. And it\u2019s not just the HOREMI team that is happy about this progress: in the spirit of good neigh\u00adbor\u00adli\u00adness, people from the surrounding commu\u00adnity can also get fresh water at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
