School helps school

Great: With a huge donation, a Stuttgart school has helped to ensure that HOREMI’s school is up and running on time.

The fact that the HOREMI school was completed in time for the start of the 2024 school year and can now get started is nothing short of a minor miracle. Over 900 pupils from Stuttgart’s Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium made a significant contribution to this. They financed almost the entire corrugated iron school roof with their donation of 3,000 euros! The pupils raised all the money themselves during a simulation game in which they transformed their school into a state complete with parliament, ministries and over 100 companies — from restaurants to photo studios. And this state obviously not only made good profits and managed its finances carefully, but also took its social mission seriously.

This benefited other organizations in addition to HOREMI, and the project managers voted democratically on the selection of donation recipients. Fortunately for HOREMI, one of the teachers found out about the school project and presented it to his “school government”. They immediately liked the idea of “school helps school”. Especially as education is not something that can be taken for granted by children in Uganda.

The joy at HOREMI and all its “friends” was correspondingly huge. A thousand thanks to the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium for this great campaign!

“Thumbs up” from the HOREMI kids for the great support from the German school.
